Using wikiHow to create a set of instructions has had a great influence on the instructions themselves. As an authoring tool, it has influenced the way I have intended it to appear to the audience. If I were to use a different tool- Microsoft Word, for example, I may have been able to customize it more in terms of thing like font, typography, spacing, etc. Since wikiHow articles typically all appear in the same format for consistency, the formatting options are fewer. WikiHow articles are encouraged to be as specific and detailed as possible, with the intention of describing a process to any and all audiences. If I was creating instructions for an audience that I knew would have past experience and knowledge and require only the basics, the emphasized detail of wikiHow articles would most likely be unnecessary.
